Sturgeon Juvenile
As in intensive trout production, more and more use is being made of extruded feeds in sturgeon production. Because sturgeons are relatively slow feeders, water-stable extruded pellets also give a great advantage here. Extrusion cooking avoids the risk of food spoilage, due to partially pellet disintegration, resulting in poor water quality.
The inclusion of spray dried haemoglobin powder enhances the amount of animal proteins readily available for the fish and helps binding the trouts faeces, hence helping to maintain a good water quality.
Sturgeon Juvenile has been used with growing success in several intensive sturgeon farms in throughout the EU. We found that for the young sturgeon the relative high fat-content of the feeds did not give rise to any digestion problems. Of course, such an energetic pellet allows the young sturgeon fish to realise an optimal growth.
