Coating the pellets

After the extruded pellets have been dried, it is possible to coat them with fish oil and other liquids.

By coating the fish feed we can obtain a pellet which has a higher energy level. Both sinking and floating feed can be coated. Another advantage of coated pellets, is a higher water stability.

Coating the pellet is an ingenious process in which the vacuum chamber (depicted on the image) has a crucial role. In the closed room the fish oil and the pellet are mixed. While stirring continuously, a vacuum is created in the chamber. When the pressure is low enough, air is added gradually to carry the fish oil into the pellet.

In doing this we obtain a pellet with a higher fat content in which the oil has penetrated the core instead of leaving it clung to the surface.
