Conditioning the meal
In this faze the flour, which has been obtained after mixing and grinding the original product, will make its first appearance in the start of the extrusion installation.
In the conditioner, which is highlighted in blue on this image, the flour is heated with steam and the necessary fluids are added. (eg.: fishoil or water).
Two horizontal axis are found within the conditioner, which rotate towards one another. The axis contain numerous paddles which knead the flour intensively and gradually pushes it towards the end of the conditioner..
There is no rise in pressure in the conditioner. Heat is only added through the application of steam and humidifying is obtained by adding water or steam. When the flour reaches the end of the conditioner it will have become a smooth and homogenous mass, which is ready to be processed by the extruder.
